The 2024 Fall Meeting of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS) will take place from September 16 to 19, 2024 at the main campus of the University of Technology in Warsaw (Poland) and will consist of parallel symposia with invited speakers, oral and poster presentations assorted by one plenary session to provide an international forum for discussing recent advances in the field of materials science.

ECOMATES project will participate by proposing the Symposium "Exploring emerging photo and electrochemical systems for CO2 conversion to fuels and chemicals".

The symposium will offer a comprehensive exploration into the dynamic landscape of CO2 conversion, positioning itself at the intersection of scientific innovation, technological advancement, and sustainable development. Our discussions will commence with an in-depth analysis of the latest breakthroughs in catalyst design, examining how novel materials and structures enhance efficiency and selectivity in CO2 conversion processes. From photo/electrochemical and photocatalytic approaches to biological and chemical methods, the symposium will provide a platform to dissect diverse strategies that transform CO2 into value-added fuels and chemicals. 

Moving beyond the laboratory, we will scrutinize the scalability of these processes, addressing engineering challenges, economic viability, and the potential for large-scale deployment. Our focus extends to the integration of renewable energy sources, exploring synergies that amplify the environmental benefits of CO2 conversion. Discussions will also address life cycle assessments and techno-economic analyses, ensuring a holistic understanding of the environmental and economic impacts associated with CO2 utilization technologies. 

In essence, the symposium aspires to be a melting pot of ideas, uniting researchers, engineers, policymakers, and industry leaders in a collaborative effort to chart the course for a sustainable future.
