Design and optimization of membranes for CO2RR processes

Project objectives: Aim of the project is the design and development of low cost and efficient polymeric membranes for MEA realization. Conductivity and diffusion properties of the new nanostructured membranes will be thoroughly tested. The best-performing membrane and MEA will be scaled up to supply partners for full CO2RR cell experiments.

Working context: DC#9 will be hosted at ADVENT (Greece) and will be enrolled in the PhD school of the Politecnico of Torino, supervised by Dr. C. Chochos and co-Supervised by Prof. S. Bianco. Part of the activity will be carried on during secondment periods at IIT for a training on synthesis and electrochemical characterization of Cu/M catalysts, at VITO for a training on large scale electrode assembly and at APRIA for a training on electrolyser assembly.

Expected outcome:

  • Identification of suitable materials for innovative membrane realization.
  • Identification of best synthetic approach.
  • Implementation of the membranes in MEA.
