We’ve brought ECOMATES to school

On May 8th, 2026, we've been visiting the Galileo Ferraris Scientific High School in Turin, to present the ECOMATES project to the classes as part of the event ‘Transforming CO₂: the science behind a more sustainable future’. A journey into the world of European research: what it means to work on a Marie Curie project and how ECOMATES aims to transform CO₂ into useful resources. Professor Giancarlo Cicero, the project coordinator, gave his presentation alongside the two POLITO PhD students Wei Wang and Lovelle Rhoy Manpatilan.

U-night 2025: ECOMATES at the European Researchers’ night in Turin

Once again, ECOMATES project participated in the European Researchers’ Night in Turin, together with the Italian Institute of Technology. ECOMATES information stand was located within the Sustainable Cities and Urban Equity Cluster , running on Friday, September 26th, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to midnight. The stand assigned to ECOMATES was one of the “Research Laboratories,” spaces designed to be the beating heart of the event and give concrete form to this year’s UNIGHT theme: research as a journey, made up of questions, attempts, insights, mistakes, and new beginnings with which, step by step, we build tomorrow. The DC Ecomates have been ready to answer all the questions from the public and illustrated the project and its positive impact on the future of cities and the environment.

U-night 2024: ECOMATES at the European Researchers’ night in Turin

For its 2024 edition, the European Researchers’ Night saw the entire group of ECOMATES students take part, as they were in Turin to attend one of the training events organised by the consortium, at the premises of IIT. The area set aside for the project was located in Piazza dei Giardini Reali, and the event took place on 28 September, attracting a large crowd of members of the public, visitors and onlookers. Our students were delighted to share the principles behind their research and provide accessible explanations of the concepts underpinning it, even for a non-specialist audience.

U-night 2023: ECOMATES at the European Researchers’ night in Turin

As Politecnico di Torino and ISTITUTO ITALIANO DI TECNOLOGIA, We have been present at UNIGHT in Turin since 2023! Ecomates MSCA project found its space within the area dedicated to research laboratories, entitled ‘Adaptation to climate change’. We met our public in the gardens of Musei Reali Torino, where we made them discover the research work we are into to transform waste into energy!
